August Activities 2026

This month the children have been learning about ‘under the sea’ . We had discussions about the different types of sea creatures that live under the sea and what they might eat.
We talked about how different sea creatures move and tried to copy some of their movements.
We read some stories and sang some songs that were sea related and also discussed what other things might be found under the sea such as rocks and shells etc.
As a craft we made dolphins and Jellyfish.
We have also been learning about our senses, what they do and how we use them.
At snack time we talked about our snack, we used our eyes to describe what the snack looked like, we listened to hear if there was any sound when we bit into the snack, we felt the food and tasted the food. We used various fruits, vegetable and carbs. We also tried pancakes with lemon or sugar to see how adding a different ingredient could change the taste.
We made our own squishy balloons and had fun playing with rice and gloop. As a craft we drew round our hand and added different materials that had different texture feels on the fingers.
Throughout the course of the project we used and learnt a variety of describing words to help build our vocabulary.
